We
wish to applaud your selection of a local company "The Boat
Guy" from Bourne Massachusetts to work with when service is
necessary for one of your products. Recently we had the opportunity
of working with the owner and staff of the company and cannot but
give the highest ratings to every aspect of their interaction with
us.
During
the summer we proceeded to purchase a pre-owned boat. A critical
issue was the effective operation of the outboard motor. Unfortunately
it was found to be defective. What could have been a very frustrating
period of time while tests were run and re-run turned out to be
almost enjoyable. An interesting comment given that all we wanted
to do was buy the boat and get it into the water. Our experience
with everyone with the company was exemplary. Clearly they were
experts-we certainly could see that being at the yard almost every
day. Beyond that they treated us like valued customers even though
we had not previous interaction with them. This company always went
above and beyond to keep us informed and welcome.
From
Yamaha's perspective an important point is that we were left with
a high level of confidence in our Yamaha motor. This came about
because of the confidence that the owner and head mechanic conveyed
to us in your product as they worked through the problems. We had
developed complete trust in Andy Bancroft, President/Owner and Andrew
(Drew) Mellody, Head Mechanic.
In
summary, "The Boat Guy" from Bourne, Massachusetts is
an excellent example of what Competence and Customer Service means.
Everyone in their employment is held in our highest esteem.
Sincerely,

...Thanks to their efforts we have a wonderful new boat to help
us take care of Mayflower II and our other boats. This new workboat
will be around for many years to come as a testiment to what can
be accomplished with a dedicated group of people committed to seeing
a project through. I am profoundly greatful to you all for your
help. Lets enjoy reaching the finsih line together and look forward
to celebrating our efforts soon...The boat is on the trailer ready
to go to Bourne, Ma where, the boat guy Andy Bancroft
will rig our new Honda fifty horse outboard, complete with center
console steering, power tilt and just enough gauges for us to keep
an eye on how well the motor is running. We cant wait for
launch day.
...Last Thursday we launched our new workboat. We started the
day fussing over the boat, taking pictures of everyone next to the
boat in the field near the shop then transporting the boat to the
waterfront for launching...When it was time to start the
motor, there were a few quick glances over to Andy Bancroft, the
boat Guy from Cataumet, who installed the motor to assure
me the motor would start. Of course it started first time, and purred
so quietly, many people were unsure the motor was running. The boat
rolled off the trailer sweet as you please and all of a sudden all
our hard work was afloat, right on her waterline and pretty as a
picture, if I do say so my self. Two representatives from
Honda Motor corp. came up for the launching. I am happy to report
they liked our boat and we love the new motor. I dont know
how we got along with our old skiff and outboard for as long as
we did.
...Mike Rickey and I were so proud to be part of such a wonderful
project and a phenomenal launch. The entire Plimoth Plantation team
was overwhelmingly welcoming, and we truly felt like part of the
family as Volunteer rolled gracefully off of her trailer and the
motor silently fired up. On behalf of all of us at Honda Marine,
Id like to offer a sincere thank-you for the opportunity to
be part of this historic event. Keep the posts and photos coming!

I am new to boating last year. I have a 16' Lund Alaskan with
a 30 HP Honda. I started using the Boat Guy last fall when I had
a problem with my carbs. They were so nice and accommodating. The
did great work and did it quickly. I called them hoping to get my
boat in for a spring tune. I knew that this is the crazy season
and was ready for them to say "sorry we are booked." Not
the case at all. They told me to bring it in and they would get
on it in a few days. Greeted with a smile and took my boat. Unfortunately,
I had some truck trouble this week and both the boat and truck are
in the shop. The boat was ready last week, but the truck wasn't
so I couldn't pick it up until tomorrow. I know it is a pain to
have a fixed boat sitting around taking up valuable space, but they
have been so accomodating. I usually hate going to any mechanic
because I feel I am some how going to get screwed, but not at the
Boat Guy. So I give the Boat Guy a huges thumbs up.

E Paint News

Andy Bancroft, owner of The Boat Guy in Bourne,
MA has joined a growing list of boatyards and marine service companies
making the switch to ePaint Companys copper-free antifouling
paints. The Boat Guy, already offering cleaner and more efficient
4-stroke Honda engines, was looking for other ways he could improve
his boatyard and Cape Cod waterways. After evaluating ePaint ZO
general purpose antifouling paint on a number of his customers
boats during the 2008 boating season, Andy and his customers were
pleased with the paints performance. With a full season of successful
trials behind him, Andy decided it was time to make the change and
will be offering ePaint copper-free bottom paints exclusively for
the 2009 boating season.
